UPDATE 8/8/25:

We are eager to welcome all of you who are planning to attend Pastor John’s memorial service on August 23 at 10:30 am.

To honor and celebrate the life and ministry of our beloved pastor, Grace Community Church will host guests across multiple locations on campus. The service will be livestreamed from the Worship Center to every room on campus, ensuring all in attendance can participate. The Chapel will be dedicated to Spanish-speaking guests. Additionally, translation into Spanish, Mandarin, Russian, Korean, Arabic, and Armenian will be available via our livestream on the church website.

To accommodate as many guests as possible, additional seating in the Shepherds Conference tent will be available for all who wish to join us in person.

While nursery care will not be available, we welcome families to attend together and enjoy the memorial service across multiple rooms on campus.

Auxiliary parking will be available south of Cantara Street, in addition to our North and West parking lots. Download Parking Lot Map

We invite you to remain after the service for a time of fellowship and refreshments as we commemorate the work of God through the ministry of our Pastor.

Thank you for your prayers for our church and for the MacArthur family as we anticipate this special day.

For His Glory,
The Grace Community Church Elders

With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude, we announce the memorial service for our beloved pastor, John MacArthur, which will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 10:30 am (PDT), at Grace Community Church.

After 56 years of faithful ministry, Pastor John went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2025. Pastor John was 86 years old.

The memorial will be a time to remember and give thanks for a life wholly devoted to the glory of God through the faithful preaching of His Word. Pastor John’s ministry has touched countless lives across the world, and we recognize that many will desire to join us in honoring his legacy. Due to limited seating and the significant international interest, we kindly ask that individuals and churches participate by joining us via livestream with the wider body of Christ to mourn and rejoice together, focused on the gospel and the truth of Scripture. This will allow our church congregation to participate in the memorial of our pastor.

Space limitations at Grace Church also mean that those attending in person should expect to sit in overflow locations across the campus. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and graciousness in this matter. More information will be made available in the days to come.

We ask for your prayers as we prepare to honor our dear pastor and—as he did so faithfully—to give glory to Christ on this occasion.

“We are of good courage and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:8–9)
