Faith Under Fire

Suffering is promised in our fallen world. Trials, persecution, conflict, grief, pain, and the weaknesses of our own flesh—all of these tempt us to waver, to soften our convictions, and to bow to the pressure of worldly influence. Today, many believers around the world are living through suffering for the sake of the gospel that is far more unique and intense than most of us have faced, and yet they remain unshaken in their convictions. Many of these believers are those whom we love and support—faithful men and women who are striving to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations, just as Christ commanded (Matthew 28:18–20).

Fulfilling the Great Commission

The Master’s Academy International (TMAI) exists for this very purpose: that all nations would hear the name of Christ, and come to seek, love, and serve Him. Our ministry works to train indigenous church leaders to be approved pastor-teachers, able to equip their local churches to make biblically sound disciples. Currently, there are 18 TMAI Training Centers equipping men in North, Central, and South America; Europe; Africa; Asia; and the Middle East. Over 8,000 graduates are ministering around the world, shepherding churches in regions marked by warfare and cultural opposition.

Each summer, we ask our Grace Church family and supporters around the world to commit for a week to pray for these training centers and church leaders. This annual summer prayer event is called “Together We Pray.” We take this opportunity to pray as individuals alongside our ministry partners and together as local church congregations. For one week, each day is dedicated to one region, focusing our prayers specifically on the TMAI Training Centers in that region—praying for those who serve there amidst the local pressures and persecution.

Why We Pray

Our theme for Together We Pray 2025 is “Unshaken: Holding Fast in Hope.” God is the object of hope for every believer, and we express this hope in trials through confidence in the Lord and dependent prayer (Psalm 62:5–6). As the author of Hebrews states, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (10:23). As we ourselves hold fast to the One who holds our salvation, we pray that those proclaiming His name in the hardest places would remain unshaken in their faith.

Though not every Christian is called to the pastorate or international mission work, to be a Christian is to be for and personally a part of the Great Commission. For that reason, we ask our Grace Church family to please join us in obedience to our Savior, as we pray with steadfast hearts—holding fast to the God of hope—for the continual proclamation of His Name around the world.
