Lucas Gomes

I’m Lucas, and I'm an international student at TMS, who is preparing to be a pastor and teach theology. I currently serve in Sojourners by co-leading a Bible Study. And I serve at TMU, helping teach some classes in the Math and Science departments. I am originally from Portugal, and due to seeing the need that the churches have in my home country, I hope to go back there through GMI to help shepherd a church and teach in the TMAI extension that recently got started. Helping me make this decision is the possibility of an exploratory trip back to Lisbon, Portugal. In this trip I would be able to spend time with church and TMAI extension school that I may be able to work with in the future. If I am able to go on this trip, I have been given the opportunity by TMAI Spain (the school overseeing the extension school in Portugal) to teach two exegesis classes to the pastors in training there. This trip would help me and TMAI to understand if I am a fit for the pastoral and academic needs in Portugal. In a sense, it would act like a preliminary experience where both TMAI and I would be able to have more certainty about my future ministry in Portugal.”
