We are William Carey and Katie Benjamin, Missionaries in Training at Grace Community Church. We are preparing to move to Munich, Germany, where we will serve at Soli Deo Gloria Gemeinde München. Our goal is to come alongside the elders at this church to strengthen and, by God’s grace, grow the congregation through the faithful preaching and teaching of His Word. Munich, the capital of Bavaria, is predominantly made up of nominal Catholics and Lutherans, with only a small percentage of evangelicals—around 1-2% of the population. Despite being a major cultural and economic center, Munich is a highly secular city with a dense student population, where many are spiritually indifferent or unaware of the gospel. Additionally, Munich has become home to a significant number of refugees and immigrants, many of whom are in desperate need of hearing the Gospel. We pray that the Lord will use us to bring His gospel to His people in this spiritually needy, secular, and diverse city, where the need for the gospel is as urgent as ever.
William came to faith at Soli Deo Gloria Church through his father’s preaching on the book of Romans. Shortly after his conversion, he felt a strong calling to preach and teach. As a young man, he discovered the sermons of John MacArthur online, which were invaluable in his sermon preparation. William later met a graduate of The Master’s Seminary, who encouraged him to pursue theological training. In 2019, William attended his first Shepherds Conference, where the Lord stirred in him a deep desire to learn how to exposit the Word. Leaving the conference, he felt a strong call to pursue an MDiv at The Master’s Seminary. In 2021, God graciously provided the opportunity, and, Lord willing, he will graduate in May 2025.
William and Katie met while serving coffee at a Men’s and Women’s conference at Grace Church. Their friendship grew over shared lunches in the staff kitchen, and eventually, they married. Together, they have been blessed to serve the Lord in numerous ministries, including GMI, William's role as the Short-Term Ministry Coordinator during his time in seminary, their Commissioned Bible study, the young adult Bible study (Foundation), FOF, and Women’s Ministry. They are deeply grateful for their time at Grace Church, where they have learned countless lessons from the faithful men and women of the church, both inside and outside the classroom. They believe their time at Grace has perfectly equipped them, in God’s wisdom, for their future ministry in Munich.
We are incredibly thankful for every prayer offered on our behalf. It is humbling to know that there are people interceding for us. The body of Christ is truly a gift to us, and as we prepare to serve the Lord in Munich, we invite you to partner with us in what God is doing in Germany.
Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent.
